Summer is here, and the rising temperatures and beautiful days mean that your space is finally due for a bit of a makeover. Many people switch out the decor in their living room and kitchen, but forget about the bathroom. Here are some ways you can decorate this small space for summer, particularly if you are already doing a bathroom remodel. This bathroom remodeling gallery features some of our favorite local makeovers in St. Louis.

Switch out your candles for lighter scents.

Candles are a great bathroom accessory, because they provide a light, pleasant smell that keeps everything feeling clean. However, in the summer a lot of woodsy or spicy scents can start to feel a bit heavier and overpowering. Switch to a light summer candle with citrus, floral, or ocean scents to make the bathroom feel more summery.

Change out your shower curtain.

Your shower curtain takes up a lot of space in a small bathroom, so changing it up can change the entire feel of your bathroom. If you currently have a curtain in a dark or autumnal color, switch it up to something that’s a little lighter or even a plain white. Light colors feel crisp and chic in the hot weather. If you’re feeling bold, you can even go for a colorful pattern to liven up a dull bathroom.

Add colorful plants.

Keeping a plant in your bathroom is an easy way to make it feel much more lively. Consider switching out your plants based on the season to reflect the mood. For example, in the summer, you may want to consider a colorful blooming floral plant instead of the darker ferns that you might use during the winter.

Let light in.

One of the easiest ways to make your space feel just a bit more summer ready is to let the light in from outside. If you have heavy curtains in your bathroom, replace them with something a little bit more translucent so that light can flow into your space. Try opening windows as well to let the breeze in.
